\nDo you ever feel overwhelmed by the needs of others, and feel there is no way you can do anything of consequence to help because you are only one person? Do you ever feel frustrated by the enormity of the world and the evil it contains, and feel powerless to change it? Do you ever feel that your voice is drowned out by the many who are louder, stronger, more prominent?<\/p>\n

This poem addresses those feelings. By the grace and power of God, even though we are only\u00a0one person, we can accomplish His will for our lives. In the end, that’s all that matters.<\/p>\n

Don’t listen to the voices of those who tell you that your voice doesn’t matter. It does matter if you are using it for the Lord. Don’t listen to the deceiver who tells you that your giving, your labor, your sacrifices are in vain. Remember, He who saw the widow’s mite, and multiplied a lad’s loaves and fishes will take what we give Him and accomplish much for His glory.<\/p>\n

I Am But One<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am but one, my voice is small,<\/em>
\nMy choices matter not at all<\/em>
\nTo anyone but me.<\/em><\/p>\n

I am but one, I often think,<\/em>
\nAnd from the battle fearful shrink<\/em>
\nLest I should wounded be.<\/em><\/p>\n

I am but one, I tell myself<\/em>
\nAnd sometimes hesitate to help<\/em>
\nThe helpless on life’s way.<\/em><\/p>\n

I am but one, what can I do<\/em>
\nWhen needs are great, resources few,<\/em>
\nTo reach the world today?<\/em><\/p>\n

I am but one, I cannot change<\/em>
\nThe hearts astray, the ties estranged,<\/em>
\nBut I know One who can.<\/em><\/p>\n

I am but one, and I can pray,<\/em>
\nCan seek God’s face both night and day<\/em>
\nEntrust them to His hands.<\/em><\/p>\n

I am but one, but I can speak<\/em>
\nTo cheer the hopeless, help the weak<\/em>
\nTo tell them of the Light.<\/em><\/p>\n

I am but one, but I can stand,<\/em>
\nAnd fight the battle, lend a hand<\/em>
\nTo others in the fight.<\/em><\/p>\n

I am but one, but not alone,<\/em>
\nBecause of Him whose name is known<\/em>
\nAs Jesus Christ, God’s Son.<\/em><\/p>\n

I am but one, and I can share<\/em>
\nThe Good News that Christ came to bear<\/em>
\nThe sins of everyone.<\/em><\/p>\n

I am but one, and I’ll not shirk<\/em>
\nTo give my all unto His work<\/em>
\nUntil my race is run.<\/em><\/p>\n

I am but one, and life flies by.<\/em>
\nI’ll seek to live so when I die<\/em>
\nI’ll hear Him say, “Well done.”<\/em><\/p>\n
